What Makes Swarm Detection Different

1. Track Capacity Saturation

Single-target C-UAS systems are designed around tracking and classifying one or a few targets. A swarm of 10–100 drones generates simultaneous radar returns that exceed the track-management capacity of systems not designed for multi-target environments. Radar trackers may merge nearby targets into a single blurred return, lose individual track continuity, or drop lower-priority tracks entirely under track load.

2. RF Noise Elevation

RF detection systems rely on identifying individual communication signals from the noise floor. A swarm of RF-communicating drones simultaneously elevates the broadband RF background in their operational band, making it harder to isolate and fingerprint individual drone signals. An attacker who staggers frequencies across the swarm compounds this problem for narrowband receivers.

3. Deliberate Radar Countermeasure Exploitation
