Stratospheric Balloons

Balloon-based HAPS trade the persistent, indefinite station-keeping of a solar-electric aircraft or airship for lower cost, faster deployment, and (for the maneuverable/directable designs) days-to-weeks of useful dwell time rather than months. This subsection covers the civil/commercial Earth-observation and telecom side of the balloon-HAPS market.
